Imperial sized units are designed around feet and inches. Metric design units are modular to 100 mm in plan.

Bricks as opposed to blocks: Bricks may be laid single handed, whereas heavier blocks need to be laid with both hands.

General purpose bricks must be painted or plastered if used externally.
